DECISION

So I finally decided on the Material I will be using for this Project. Though I could only find a Joke Video of it on YouTube so I'll post that up here now whilst I work on Ripping the Actual Scene. Please Ignore The Farting.

I Will be replacing Bella with with some sort of creature, though i havn't decided what yet. I chose this clip as I feel It's simple an effective when it comes to character interaction. There is also the opportunity to use some motion tracking and to play with colour and lighting as Twilight is quite a high contrast film. Now However I need to crack on finding a character to super impose and ripping the actual unedited scene from the movie.

Ideas Continued...

Well I have been looking at a few clips from different things. I have yet to decided what I want to choose as there are several things I need to consider. As I want to improve what I learnt in the first term, I want to play with Motion Tracking, Lighting and colour as much as possible. I want my scene to look simple and effective.

Possible Ideas:

Gossip Girl - Turning One of the many love interests into a monster?

Twilight - Replacing One of the characters with a monster?

Clash of the Titans - Replacing the Stop Motion Monster with a CGI Monster?

X-Men - Replacing one of the powers with something Bizarre?

Star Wars - Adding another Lightsaber wielding character to the scene?

All these Ideas I have to narrow down to something that I can really play with and work on the make an effective final outcome. I'll Have to think carefully about time constraints and my ability.

Tutorial

We have been rather delayed due to the constant snow in the area and it seems we have lost 3 weeks of lessons. We have finally managed to snag a tutorial from Steve called Maya Live. It's about Motion Tracking Software that uses certain objects in a scene as a pin point, so that a camera set up in maya moves with the footage. This will make it easier to Import a character and makes me feel more confident in trying to do so in this project.

Ideas

A this project is about improving the skills from Industry Exercises 1, I've decided to stray away from doing blue screen again. This time I want to import a 3D character into an existing scene from a movie.

I have now got to look at movie scenes to find suitable material where this will be possible. I shall be raiding my collection for clips where I can play with lighting and possibly use Tracking.

So far I'm thinking of importing a monster or odd character into a mundane scene in hopes of changing the serious/intense emotion of the material into possibly a comedic theme.

The Brief

For this project we will be building on your existing animation and compositing skills.

You will be introduced to Maya Matchmove camera techniques, lighting, advanced UV editing and modelling and have opportunities to improve your rigging and animation skills.

To make it all manageable you will first be introduced to project management and tracking software.

You will be working to create a short sequence mixing live action with Maya derived animation or props and buildings.

There are two aims for this project:

First to enable you to plan and execute a project in a productive manner, thus enabling you to make the most of the time constraints on this and all future projects.

Second is to improve your animation and modelling skills and enable you to show those skills off in an engaging and entertaining way.

In order to achieve the above you must choose a short clip from a film and composite in your own animated character, props or buildings. Perhaps you feel that Four Weddings and A Funeral would have been better if there had been more gorillas in it. Or that Titanic would have been better with giant sea monsters. This is your chance to put things right.

The clip you use must, when composited,
show at least 30 seconds of your own animation.
I recommend that you do not choose any animated films as you will have to match or better the existing characters in the film. I can guarantee that the animators working on that film would have had a lot more time than you have for this project. So keep your choice to a live action film.
